Mr. Lee suffers from a class two hearing
difficulty and graduated from a college
in the countryside, majoring in mechanical
engineering. Most of his classmates got jobs
after graduation. There left only one, Mr. Lee,
who didn't get a job, after a year passed.
His school record was prominent. However,
he was the only one unemployed among them.

Once he applied a company, hiding his disability
at first. The company's document screening was known
to be difficult to pass. But he passed the selection
process by document. He was shocked. He realized that
his hearing impairment was not one of causes
of his failures, but the main cause.
한 번은 혹시나 하는 마음에
청각장애우임을 숨기고 함 업체에 지원을 했다.
서류 통과도 어렵다는 그 업체에서 단번에 합격을 한 이씨.
그는 충격을 받았다.
청각장애는 실패의 원인 중 하나가 아니라
전부였다는 생각이 들어서였다.
Since then, he gave up the efforts to find a job
in his major. He entered a vocational school for
disabilities and was taught web design. He achieved
eight licenses in that field. He also won a gold medal
for webmaster area at the Vocational Training
Competition for disabilities. However, hearing loss
still hampered his employment opportunities.
그 뒤, 이씨는 전공에 대한 미련을 완전히 접고,
장애우 직업 전문학교에 입학 후,
홈페이지 제작법을 배우기 시작했고,
8개의 관련 자격증까지 따냈다.
그리고 전국 장애우 기능경기대회 웹마스터 부문에서
금메달을 따기도 했다.
하지만 여전히 '청각 장애우'이라는
다섯 글자가 취업을 가로막았다.
Nonetheless, he was hired by a man who noticed
his ability. The man is the president of the company
that he now works for. He finally got a 'job' after
experiencing nine years of hardship after graduation.
그 과정에서 그를 눈여겨본 지금의 회사 사장이
그를 채용하게 되었다.
대학 졸업 후, 9년 이라는 고난의 과정을 거쳐서야
비로소 '사회인'이라는 명찰을 달 수 있었던 것이다. |
