There is a kind of mountain goat which
is called a spring fox. These goats are known
to commit suicide, much like human beings.

이 양은 유일하게 사람같이 자살해
죽는다는 것이다.
Furthermore, they don't die alone but drive
themselves to mass suicide by running over a cliff.
더욱이 혼자 죽는 것이 아니라
모두가 절벽으로 내달아 집단으로
자살을 한다고 한다.
A scholar looked into this phenomenon.
The truth is that goats in the back row push
the goats in the front row to get more grass.
Then the goats in the front are compelled
to run, being pushed by goats in the back.
어느 학자가 조사를 한 결과
자살이 아니라 앞에 양이 풀을 뜯어 먹는 사이
뒤에 있는 양은 풀을 좀 더 먹기 위해
앞으로 밀어 붙이고...
Then the goats in the front are driven to run,
being pushed by goats in the back. Then the goats
in the back also run following the front goats.
또 앞의 양은 뒤에서 밀어대니 뛸 수밖에 없고
앞에서 뛰니 뒤에서는 또다시 덩달아
뛰게 된다는 것이다.
Not knowing why they are running, they are
eventually driven to the cliff and tumble
to their deaths.
결국 서로가 왜 뛰는지조차도 모르고
정신없이 내달아 뛰다가
절벽에 떨어져 모두가 죽고 만다는 것이다.
Our lives nowadays are not much different
from the lives of these goats, are they not?
현재를 살아가는 우리의 모습의
마치 이 양들과 흡사하지 않은가? |
