A man and his wife were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
The wife says to her husband, "For our anniversary this year,
you can ask me one question, any question you want to. I will answer
it truthfully."
The husband replies, "Okay, this has been bothering me for a long time,
but I haven't had the courage to ask before...but I have noticed that all
of our eight children look similar to one another except one.
I can't figure out how he got to look so different. Did he have a different
father than the rest?"
The wife stops. She is unable to look her husband in the eyes.
Slowly she replies, "yes. Yes he did have a different father."
Her husband was taken aback. "Oh! Okay...I must know. Please tell me.
Who was that child's father?"
Again she cannot look her husband in the eyes. She is very distressed,
and after a long silence she slowly says,
"YOU."
어떤 부부가 결혼 50주년을 기념하고 있었다.
아내가 남편에게 말했다, "금년 결혼기념일에는, 당신이 묻고 싶은것이 있으면
하나만 질문하세요, 내가 성실하게 답변할게요."
남편이 대답했다, "좋아, 이건 내가 오랫동안 고민해 온 건데, 그동안 당신한테
물어볼 용기가 나지 않았어...우리 아이들 8명은 모습이 서로 비슷한데 그 중
한명은 딴판이거든. 하나가 왜 그렇게 다르게 보이는지 이해가 되지않아,
그애의 아버지가 다른 애의 아버지하고 다른가?"
아내는 주춤했다. 그녀는 남편을 똑바로 쳐다볼 수 없었다.
그녀가 천천히 대답했다, "그래요, 그애의 아버지는 달라요."
그녀의 남편은 당황했다, "아니! 좋아... 내가 알고 있어야겠어. 말해줘.
그애의 아버지가 누구야?"
이번에도 아내는 다시 남편의 눈을 바로 쳐다볼 수 없었다. 그녀는 매우 괴로워
했다, 한참의 침묵끝에 아내가 천천히 말한다,
"당신이요."
