at a big shipyard.

선박들을 볼 수 있다.

거대한 몸통을 드러낸 커다란 배를 보면
앞부분이 주둥이처럼 툭 튀어나와 있다.
It is a paradox in the construction of a vessel,
because it must lighten to sail faster,
but, in fact, is a heavy mass of iron.
목적지에 빨리 가려면 몸을 가볍게 해야 하는데
오히려 무거운 쇠뭉치를 달고 있으니
배는 꽤나 역설적인 몸 구조를 하고 있는 셈이다.
This part of the vessel is called the 'keel'.
Although the vessel loses balance
in the midst of wind and waves,
it works to keep its balance, like a tumbler.
이 부분을 '용골'이라고 부른다.
아무리 풍랑을 만난 배가 기우뚱하더라도
곧 제자리로 되돌아오도록 오뚝이 기능을 한다.
The keel is the core of hope.
용골이야말로 바로 그 희망의 중심이다.
We sometimes meet headwinds and
occasionally have to get through rainstorms
in the vast sea of life.
우리 역시 인생의 망망대해에서
때로는 순풍을 만나고
때로는 풍랑을 헤쳐 나가야 한다.
The keel provides us with balance when we stagger
from the severe waves of life and gives us
the courage to recover when we feel beaten.
인생의 바다에서 기우뚱거릴 때마다
중심을 바로 잡아 주고,
또 넘어질 때마다 다시 일어설 용기를 주는 용골!
