Steve Jobs lived a dramatic life.
Born as an illegitimate child, he was adopted
and then dropped out of college.
스티브 잡스의 삶은 드라마틱했다.
사생아로 출생하자마자 입양되었으며,
대학은 중퇴했다.
Though he became a millionaire in a short period
since he was one of Apple Computer’s cofounders,
the management board he brought fired him, due to
fear of his dominance over the company.
애플의 발명으로 순식간에 백만장자가 되었지만,
잡스가 영입한 경영진은
그의 독주를 두려워한 나머지
그를 회사에서 쫓아내고 말았다.
Despite the belief that he would never succeed
again, he bought Pixar, which makes animations,
and revived it with the successful 'Toy story.'
재기할 수 없을 것처럼 보였지만,
잡스는 애니메이션을 만드는
픽사(Pixar)를 인수해
"토이 스토리"를 성공시키며 화려하게 부활했다.
Moreover, he returned to Apple when it was
suffering fiscal deficits and put it back
in the black within one year.
뿐만 아니라 적자에 허덕이던
애플에 다시 복귀해
1년 만에 흑자를 기록하기도 했다.
His dramatic life was not finished yet.
Another challenge came upon him, the prosperous Jobs.
He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and only
expected to live a few months.
잡스의 드라마틱한 인생은 그렇게 끝나지 않았다.
모든 게 잘 풀리던 잡스에게 또다시 시련이 닥쳤다.
췌장암으로 몇 개월밖에 살지 못한다는
선고를 받은 것이다.
However, he never gave up.
He never missed a slightest piece of hope
and finally recovered.
그러나 잡스는 절망적인 병마 앞에서도 포기하지 않았다.
아주 작은 희망의 끈도 놓지 않았던 그는
결국 암도 극복하고 말았다.
His challenging spirit, creativity, and the strong
will that never give up in front of the hardships
he suffered are the reason we consider him
as a remarkable person.
우리가 스티브 잡스를 주목하는 이유는
그가 보여준 도전정신과 창조성,
그리고 굴곡 있는 인생 앞에서도
결코 포기하지 않는 그의 의지 때문이다. |
