It happened in old Russia a long time ago.
A worker at a national railroad office who
had entered into the refrigerator car was
confined in it, because the door was locked from
the outside by mistake.
구소련에서 있었던 이야기 하나.
철도국에서 일하는 한 직원이
냉장고 화차 속으로 들어간 후,
그만 실수로 밖의 문이 잠겨
냉장고 화차 안에 갇히고 말았다.
By the way, this refrigerator car did not
work properly. There was enough air enough
and the temperature was 13℃, being sustainable,
because of its failure.
그런데 이 냉장고 화차는 고장이 나 있었다.
작동이 되질 않아 공기도 충분했고,
온도도 섭씨 13도의 알맞은 체감온도였다.
However, when another worker opened the door
few hours later, the man had already died.
그러나 몇 시간 후 다른 직원이
냉장고 화차의 문을 열었을 때,
그는 이미 죽어 있었다.
Why did he die under conditions which were not fatal?
죽을 만한 환경이 아니었는데
왜 죽었을까?
The reason for his death was found in a note
that he left on the wall of the refrigerator.
사람들은 그 사람(죽은 직원)이
고장 난 냉장고 벽에 남긴 글을 보고
그 이유를 알았다.
it read:
거기에는 이렇게 씌어 있었다.
'My body gets colder and colder. I feel like I will
gradually freeze. Perhaps this is my last breath'
'점점 몸이 차가와진다.
나는 점차 몸이 얼어 옴을 느낀다.
아마 이것이 마지막일는지 모른다.'
Self-abandonment and despair drove him to death.
자포자기와 절망이 그를 죽인 것이다. |
